About the Role
Taykwa Tagamou Nation (TTN) is seeking a caring, compassionate, community-focused Indigenous Healthy Babies Healthy Children (IHBHC) Worker to support TTN and Indigenous families and children from prenatal stages through early childhood. This position provides family support, education, cultural programming, advocacy, service coordination, and referrals that promote healthy child development, positive parenting, family wellness, and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) awareness. Working closely with families, community partners, and TTN departments, the IHBHC Worker helps strengthen family wellbeing through culturally grounded and community-based approaches. This position is funded through the Indigenous Healthy Babies Healthy Children (IHBHC) Program and is subject to ongoing program funding.
Responsibilities
· Conduct home visits to provide support, education, resources, and guidance to families.
· Promote healthy pregnancies, prenatal and postnatal wellness, child development, parenting skills, and family wellbeing.
· Support families in accessing programs, services, benefits, registrations, and required documentation.
· Provide education related to child development, nutrition, breastfeeding, attachment and bonding, safety, family wellness, and FASD awareness.
· Plan and facilitate cultural, educational, and wellness activities for children, parents, and caregivers.
· Incorporate Indigenous teachings, cultural practices, and traditional ways of knowing into programming.
· Connect families with community resources, referrals, and support services.
· Collaborate with the Indigenous Midwifery Program and other TTN departments to support coordinated family services.
· Participate in community events, cultural activities, and land-based programming.
· Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, activity records, work plans, and program reports.
· Track program participation and expenditures and support funding reporting requirements.

Qualifications
· Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
· Relevant training, certification, or post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Care, Social Services, Family Support, Community Services, Health, Indigenous Studies, or a related field (is an asset).
· An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
· Experience supporting children, families, caregivers, or community members.
· Experience delivering early childhood, family wellness, parenting, health, cultural, or community-based programming (is an asset).
· Experience conducting home visits, providing family support, or connecting individuals to services (is an asset).
· Experience working with First Nations communities (is an asset).
· Knowledge of child development, parenting supports, family wellness, and culturally grounded approaches to supporting children and families.
· Understanding of trauma-informed, culturally safe, and strengths-based approaches.
· Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and time-management skills.
· Ability to build trusting relationships with children, parents, caregivers, and families.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive situations with professionalism.
· Ability to facilitate educational, cultural, and wellness activities.
· Ability to speak Cree (is an asset).
· Valid First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain (is an asset).
· Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
· Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
